Dreaming with Roo a
Children's Puppet Theatre Play

'Dreaming with Roo' is a play
for children with an accompanying puppet making workshop set
within a Native Australian theme.
It features the story, 'Birth of the Butterflies', from the
'Dreaming' creation stories which is acted out by a cast of
specially created Australian puppet animal characters; made
from organic and found, materials.

 The project's Script,
Puppets and Puppet Making Workshop have all
been created by Nottingham based Puppetry Practitioner and
Animation Scriptwriter
Helena Smee with support from Arts Council England.
The eventual show will be premiered at a to be decided
Puppet Festival where it will be presented by a Storyteller
Actor and a Puppet Kangaroo called, 'Roo'.
The Script was completed in 2010. The Puppet Making activity
began
in Spring 2011 and was completed in Spring 2013.

 A wide variety of natural materials
were sourced, some simply found in fields and woods,
research done and Puppet Making began.The first thing to
be created was the Butterfly puppet workshop to be ready
for the Buxton Puppet Festival in July 2011. |

positive feedback.
